Chapter 24
1
1 A psalm of David. The earth is the LORD'S and all it holds, the world and those who live there.
2
For God founded it on the seas, established it over the rivers.
3
Who may go up the mountain of the LORD? Who can stand in his holy place?

2 "The clean of hand and pure of heart, who are not devoted to idols, who have not sworn falsely.
5
They will receive blessings from the LORD, and justice from their saving God.
6
Such are the people that love the LORD, that seek the face of the God of Jacob." Selah
7
3 Lift up your heads, O gates; rise up, you ancient portals, that the king of glory may enter.
8
Who is this king of glory? The LORD, a mighty warrior, the LORD, mighty in battle.

At the King's Feet : A Catholic Reflection: "We all were enemies of Christ the King as we lived in sin (Rm 5:10). Then we came to know Jesus as Savior, Lord, God, and King, and we repented. We came to the foot of His cross and were shocked speechless when we realized how much Jesus, King of the universe, suffered out of love for us (Is 52:15). We humbled ourselves at His crucified feet (Mt 22:44), and we fell at His feet to worship, thank, and praise Him (Lk 17:16)."

1 Of David. 2 Blessed be the LORD, my rock, who trains my hands for battle, my fingers for war;

My safe guard and my fortress, my stronghold, my deliverer, My shield, in whom I trust, who subdues peoples under me.

3 LORD, what are mortals that you notice them; human beings, that you take thought of them?
4
4 They are but a breath; their days are like a passing shadow.
5
5 LORD, incline your heavens and come; touch the mountains and make them smoke.
6
Flash forth lightning and scatter my foes; shoot your arrows and rout them.
7
Reach out your hand from on high; deliver me from the many waters; rescue me from the hands of foreign foes.
8
6 Their mouths speak untruth; their right hands are raised in lying oaths.
9
O God, a new song I will sing to you; on a ten-stringed lyre I will play for you.

You give victory to kings; you delivered David your servant. From the menacing sword

I shed many tears because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to examine it.

One of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. The lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, 3 has triumphed, enabling him to open the scroll with its seven seals."

They sang a new hymn: "Worthy are you to receive the scroll and to break open its seals, for you were slain and with your blood you purchased for God those from every tribe and tongue, people and nation.
10
You made them a kingdom and priests for our God, and they will reign on earth."

I looked again and heard the voices of many angels who surrounded the throne and the living creatures and the elders. They were countless 5 in number,

and they cried out in a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches, wisdom and strength, honor and glory and blessing."

Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, everything in the universe, cry out: "To the one who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor, glory and might, forever and ever."
